Rooted and Ready: A Dream Taking Shape!

Hey everyone, Karla here! Originally from the bustling city of Chicago, I traded the deep dish for sunshine when I moved to Florida in 2018. My background is in interior design, and I've worn a few different hats in that world – from working as a designer in two furniture stores to transitioning into an assistant office manager role, and even an assistant property manager in downtown Chicago. And to top it all off, I'm currently working front desk at a truss company! So yeah, you could say working around homes is in my blood, lol. But if you know me, you know my passions tend to bloom in all sorts of unexpected places! One day I'm sketching floor plans, the next I'm elbow-deep in potting soil, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

My journey into the wonderful world of houseplants truly took root in 2020, thanks to a serendipitous discovery by my mother-in-law. Picture this: she found a forgotten rubber tree plant, abandoned by a previous tenant, with its roots practically staging a jailbreak, reaching for the stars (or, well, aggressively making their way into the ground!). I scooped it up, gave it a loving repot, and hoped for the best. And just like that, my collection began to flourish! It was like one plant whispered to another, "Hey, this Karla lady isn't half bad, let's move in!"

The idea for Rooted and Ready Potting House actually sprouted from a suggestion by my brilliant boyfriend. He noticed a few of my plants were in need of a good prune and jokingly (or maybe not so jokingly, the man knows my weaknesses!) suggested I look into selling them as a side hustle. And here we are! From that small seed of an idea, Rooted and Ready Potting House was born! Who knew a little trim could lead to so much green excitement?

As of now, this is an exciting, budding small business, and while I won't be officially selling anything until next year, I want to invite you all to join me on this incredible adventure! Think of this as our little online plant party. Follow along for my best tips, advice, and what I've found truly works wonders for my leafy companions. I can't wait to share some incredible before-and-after transformations of my plants – get ready to see some glow-ups that'll make your jaw drop!

Next year, get ready for an exciting lineup: I'll be offering cuttings, starter plants, and even a repotting service to help your green babies thrive. Seriously, if your plant looks like it's auditioning for a horror movie, I'm your gal! But for now, let's just chat about what I've done to help my plants look their absolute best. I'm so excited to connect with you all and share my growing passion! What's one plant you just can't seem to keep happy, or better yet, what's your current favorite green friend? Let me know in the comments!
